Dr. Kostadinka Hadzijska Skandeva completed her undergraduate studies at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Skandeva continued on to study podiatric medicine at the Kent State University School of Podiatric Medicine (formerly known as Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) in Cleveland, OH, from where she received an award for Academic Achievement and Excellence in Clinical/Research Work in Diabetic Foot Wound Care. While at KSUSPM she served as a delegate for the student chapter of the American Association for Women Podiatrists.
Upon graduation, she completed her residency training, as chief resident, at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, VA. Her training was comprehensive in both medicine and surgery, with additional training in reconstructive rearfoot surgery as well as specialized training in minimally-invasive procedures and minimal incision surgical technique through a plastic surgery cooperative.
